[xmlsec] What is a good way to handle the case where you might have too many references?

If I want to sign say 200 different elements within an xml document with
a single signature,
I will end up with up to two hundred references. In my case they can be
in the manifest, they don't have to be in the signedinfo,
but that is just too many references.
Is there a way around this problem and minimize the number of reference
required?
 
Is there another mailing list better suited for these types of
questions?
